About Sekota
Soqota or Sek'ot'a is a metropolis and separate woreda in northern Ethiopia. The call is probably from the Agaw phrase sekut, "fortified village." placed in the Wag Hemra sector of the Amhara area, Soqota has a latitude and it's far surrounded by using woreda of Soqota. approximately 6 kilometers from Soqota is the church Wuqir Meskale Kristos, where the mummified corpses of numerous Wagshums lies. Philip Briggs speculates that this metropolis can be identified with the mysterious Ku'bar, stated by using al-Ya'qubi and al-Masudi to have succeeded Axum as the capital of Ethiopia.
Soqota is the historical seat of the Wagshum, the previous ruler of Lasta, who claimed to hint an unbroken succession again to the remaining king of the Zagwe dynasty. however, verification for this culture is moderate. This city is not noted in the surviving statistics till 1746, when the infantrymen of Emperor Iyasu II burned it down. The traveler Augustus B. Wylde wrote inside the 1890s that the palace of the Wagshums on this town were constructed around 1650. It changed into a 3-storey shape which couldn't be dated with any precision, however he believed the masons and craftsmen have been some of people who had labored at Gondar.
