About Nekemte
Nekemte is a market metropolis and separate woreda in western Ethiopia. Located inside the East Welega Zone of the Oromia Region, Nekemte has a range and longitude of 9°5′N 36°33′E and an elevation of two,088 meters. Nekemte turned into previously overshadowed by way of nearby Lieka and Bilo, the former local markets. Nekemte obtained some importance while Bekere Godana and later his son Moroda Bekere made it the capital in their kingdom of Welega within the mid 19th century.
Under Mereda's son Kumsa Moroda, the metropolis continued in its importance as it submitted to Shewan rule. The Russian explorer Alexander Bulatovich visited Nekemte thirteen March 1897; in memoirs he describes its marketplace as "a completely lively place and offers a motley mixture of languages, dress, and peoples", and carefully described the artwork in the town's newly constructed Ethiopian Orthodox church. In 1905, a vital government customs office becomes formally opened in Nekemte.
