About Metehara
Metehara is a metropolis in significant Ethiopia. Located within the Misraq Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region, it has a latitude and longitude of 08°54′N 39°55′ECoordinates: 08°54′N 39°55′E with an elevation of 947 meters above sea level. Access to Metehara includes a station on the Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway. There is a Tuesday cattle market. Notable nearby landmarks consist of Metehara Mikael Bet church, Mount Fentale to the north and Lake Basaka to the south of the city.
Visitors to the area inside the first decades of the 20th century often defined the area a volcanic no-guy's land between the Afar, Oromo, Somalis and Amhara. Somali settlers from the Dir clans of the Issa and Gadabuursi migrated to this place as railway workers toward the end of the generation of Emperor Menelek II of Ethiopia. Later their numbers improved as spouse and children and kinsmen took permanent settlement there. On the eve of the Italian invasion, a German named Neitzel have been granted a concession to domesticate cotton and espresso.
