Kobo

Kobo is a town in northern Ethiopia. Currently, it's far located in the Kobo province, Semien Wollo Zone of the Amhara Region, this city has a longitude and range of 12°09′N 39°38′E with an elevation of 1468 meters above sea stage. It is the workplace of Kobo woreda. Kobo is placed on the Addis Ababa-Axum motorway 189 kilometers south of Mekele.

A road from Kobo west to Lalibela has existed for the reason that 1930s, but as of 1999, it's far usable simplest in exact weather with the aid of four-wheel motors. Kobo is part of a mid-altitude region which lies between the Ethiopian Highlands to the west and the Afar Depression to the east. The northern portion of this place is referred to as Raya. Raya is a flat simple which extends north from Kobo woreda inside the Amhara area all the way to the Raya Azebo woreda in the Tigray Region. Similar areas exist on the eastern edges of Yejju, Wollo, and Shewa further south. This region has been concerned in disputes between the Christian highlanders and Muslims from the east since the time of the Ifat Sultanate.
