Izbat al Burj is a coastal metropolis with a huge fishing enterprise in Damietta Governorate, Egypt. It is 15 km northeast of Damietta, and 210 km from Cairo. Its populace is about 70,000. The metropolis is situated on the northern coast of Egypt at the mouth of the Damietta river, a distributary of the Nile, contrary Ras El Bar. The town became named in reference to the protective tower that after stood there. In 1869, a 180-foot minaret changed into built to manual ships within the Mediterranean Sea, but this region is now only a shallow spot within the Nile riverbed.
The city became historically granted to the Syrian Kahil family with the aid of Muhammad Ali of Egypt.
