Today, it’s on a Jeep that you will do a safari day at Tarangire National Park. This wonderful nature reserve is home to many giant trees, baobabs. The savanna, the bush and the seasonal marshes offer a sensational landscape. This park covers nearly 2,600 km², which is about the size of Luxembourg. Tarangire National Park is considered one of the best places in East Africa to observe elephants closely. You will also have the chance to see beautiful Maasai giraffes, various gazelles and antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeests, lions, leopards, baboons and over a hundred species of birds. Serengeti Tortilis Camp 3

This morning you will leave the lodge to visit Serengeti National Park. You will pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to visit the endless plains. Guests can enjoy an afternoon safari. The Serengeti Plain is a 60,000 km² natural savannah straddling Tanzania and Kenya. Serengeti means endless plains in Maa language. Its herbivore population plays a major role in the conservation of the open environment, controlled by several thousand large carnivorous predators. The most common species are black wildebeest, gazelle, zebra and African buffalo. The cheetah can also be spotted on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are not too high. They rely on the light of day and their speed to catch their prey. Groups of hippos can be seen in large pools and rivers while crocodiles sunbathe on the banks. You will return to Serengeti Tortilis Camp in time to enjoy an aperitif before dinner.

Optionally, we can offer you a hot-air balloon flight from the Serengeti, with a 4x4 night departure to reach the departure point (a unique opportunity to do a night safari in the park), take-off at sunrise and small Champagne lunch on landing. After breakfast, prepare to have a game drive at Serengeti National Park; you will be served a picnic lunch at the park. After the game drive, you will travel to Lack Speke Bay Lodge, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay. The view from this lodge is well-worth the drive, and definitely worth the stay. The waters are clear and blue, and the lodge is the perfect place to relax in after you have been on a game drive, or traveling for a few days. With a surface area of 68,800 square kilometres (26,600 sq mi), Lake Victoria is Africa’s largest lake by area, and is also the largest tropical lake in the world. Lake Victoria is the world’s second largest freshwater lake by surface area; only Lake Superior in North America is larger. In terms of its volume, Lake Victoria is the world’s ninth largest continental lake, and it contains about 2,750 cubic kilometers (2.2 billion acre-feet) of water. You will dine again at Speke Bay Lodge for dinner, and stay overnight at the lodge.

The sixth day of your safari will begin with breakfast at Speke Bay Lodge. You are then given the opportunity to spend the day however you would like, including canoe-trips to the nearby fishing villages. These trips are highly recommended because they allow you to gain the true experience of Lake Victoria. Up to four people can take the canoe-trip. You can also enjoy a bird walk, a lake cruise, or a mountain-bike trip through Masamba Hills. You will dine again at Speke Bay Lodge for dinner, and stay overnight at the lodge.

Once you have eaten breakfast, our guide will take you to Serengeti National Park, where you will enjoy another full day at the park, followed by dinner at Serengeti Tortilis Tentec Camp, where you will stay overnight, before heading to Ngorongoro Crater Rum. It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile infested river can hold them back. The Wildebeest travel through a variety of parks, reserves and protected areas and through a variety of habitat. What awaits you today is a whole day to observe and photograph the wild animals in the Ngorongoro crater! A true wildlife sanctuary, you’ll find almost every animal in East Africa, including the rare rhinoceros. You will see an array of zebras, wildebeest and buffalo. The crater is home to more than 25,000 large animals, including 26 endangered black rhinos, as well as the densest concentration in the world of lions. Each year, nearly half a million visitors come to see this incredible place. The descent into the crater is a picturesque beauty: lush forest and thousands of animals overlook the view. As you reach the interior of the Ngorongoro Crater, the amazing landscape marveling around you, your guide will take you through the grassy floor of the crater, its forest, its shores of Lake Magadi and its surrounding swamps. Lunch is served as a picnic, the wonders of nature surrounding you as well as the exceptional wildlife, in freedom, with whom you share this extraordinary paradise.
