After breakfast pick up at your city hotel, a safari briefing will follow on the adventures ahead. After the briefing, your safari adventure will begin as you depart by road driving across the equator from the Southern to the Northern Hemisphere, and onward to the semi-arid region of the Samburu Game Reserve.The name Samburu is of Maasai origin, a /‘samburr/’ is a traditional leather bag the Masai use for carrying honey and milk. This region is characterized by vast, open landscapes, dried riverbeds (depending on the season of the year) and its red volcanic soil.Rock outcroppings contrast against the dense woodland vegetation along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, the river that gives life to the reserve. The area is home to the Samburu tribe, who are /‘cousins/’ to the Maasai people with their own distinct cultural traditions. Arrive at the camp or lodge in time for lunch, followed by some leisure hours for a siesta or swim before you depart for an afternoon game viewing drive, and return back to the camp or lodge before sunset.

This full day in the Samburu Game Reserve will be spent searching for the big five, the Samburu five and observing the vast unspoiled scenery during morning and afternoon game viewing Drives. The Park is plentiful with crocodiles that bask on muddy riverbanks and velvet monkeys that frolic in the late afternoon sun. Samburu is renowned for its rare species of fauna known as the Samburu five. These five particular animals are usually only found north of the equator /– the long necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe which is characterized by its liver-colored geometric patches defined by narrow white lines, the Grevys zebra which is smaller than the common zebra and looks more like a horse, the beisa oryx with black horizontal stripe running across its lower flank and the Somali ostrich males which have blue-grey necks and thighs. A camel-back safari is a specialty in Samburu, as well as a cultural visit to the Samburu people who depend on their cattle, goat, sheep and donkey can be arranged at an extra cost.

Have your breakfast followed by a depart to Olpejeta. You will arrive for lunch and relaxation and later proceed with afternoon game drive. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 364 sq km wildlife conservancy situated between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares and its game-to-area ratio tops the Kenyan park and reserve league. Ol Pejeta has over 10000 large mammals and it is the only park where the big 5 and chimpanzees can be seen. It is also where the fastest growing population of rhino in Africa can be found. There are southern white rhino, about 80 endangered black rhino and in a special sanctuary there are three of the worlds last remaining northern white rhino.

Lake Nakuru Lodge 4

After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru National park located in the Great Rift Valley to arrive in time for lunch. After lunch enjoy an exciting game drive. The Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lake shores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The bird life here is world renown and over 400 birds species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White and Black Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe

Zebra Plains Luxury Tents 4

After breakfast, proceed to Maasai mara game reserve via Narok town then enter the Maasai mara road and drive across the plains to the camp. Check in at the camp for lunch. The meals are buffet, enjoyed either in the dining or under the shade of indigenous trees. The culinary affair is indeed one to delight the senses, have a few minutes relaxing and enjoying the surrounding before you depart for an afternoon game drives. The big five is an experience you cannot afford to miss among other animals.

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort 4

Early morning breakfast then leave Maasai Mara for Lake Naivasha . You will arrive in time for lunch, check in at Sopa Lodge Naivasha. Later in the afternoon in exploration of Naivasha with various activities at your cost. You can do any of the activities below but at your extra cost.

Breakfast will be served at the lodge, after which you will depart to Nairobi. Driver to drop you at your hotel at Nairobi or transfer you at the Airport for your home bound flight.
