Tour Overview The Jomolhari trek is relatively a moderate trek lasting for 7 to12 days depending on the routes. The challenging trek will take the trekkers over Yelila Pass at 4,820m and Nyelila pass.The trekkers will kick off from Gunitsawa village in Paro. The trekkers will be taken through a wide variety of spectacular landscape, fauna and flora that is offered for admiration with serene backdrops of altitudes ranging from 2500m to dizzying 4930m. The trekkers will kick off from Gunitsawa village in Paro. The best part of the trek is the spectacular view of Mt. Jomolhari at 7,326m. Mount Jomolhari marks the border between Bhutan and Tibet. The Jomolhari trek is the most popular among tourists. Bhutan’s natural environment and rugged mountainous terrain provides an ideal landscape for trekking. Rich Himalayan ecosystem, pristine lakes and daunting but magnificent mountains elucidate the trekking experience in Bhutan. Most trekking routes are in the northern part of the country which allows the trekkers to have an amazing experience with the natural landscape completely cut off of the rest of the country only a few seasonal nomads inhabit the high northern parts of the country. The authenticity of the trekking experience in Bhutan can be validated by the fact that the trekkers will trek through most remote parts only encountering few nomadic herders tending yaks and sometimes none at all during their trekking journey. Hike to Paro Taktsang Trekkers will hike to the Tiger’s Nest. Paro Taktsang or the Tiger’s Nest is a Buddhist monastery perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro valley. Thangthangkha Trek 3

Paro – Thangthangkha On the first day of trek, trekkers will be driven to Shana. The drive to Shana passes through the Drugyel Dzong (The Fort of the Glorious Drukpas) From Shana, trekkers will follow the Paro River to the first campsite. If the weather permits, trekkers will have the view of the Mount Jomolhari from the campsite. Places and attractions: Paro

Treks 3

hangthangkha – Jangothang The hike to the base at Jangothang is scenic. The narrow valley begins to open up and trekkers will come across many yak herders’ winter houses. Lunch will be served at this place. The campsite for the night is below a ruined fortress at the base of Mount Jomolhari at an altitude of 4080 meters. Places and attractions: Paro

Halt 3

Jangothang – halt Trekkers will halt at the base for acclimatization. During the day, trekkers can engage in hikes to the lake in the area and take in the gigantic view of the Mount Jomolhari. Places and attractions: Paro

Thimphu Trek 3

Jangothang - Lingshi After a day of acclimatization, trekkers will resume their climb up to Nyelila Pass and descend to the camp site. Trekkers will cover 18 kilometers and walk for about 7 hours. Places and attractions: Thimphu

Treks 3

Lingshi – Shodu The hike to Shodu will peak at 4820 meters at Yelila Pass. This is the highest elevation trekkers will experience through this trek. With the clear weather, trekkers can view Mount Tsherimgang and Mount Masagang.

Shodu – Barshong The trail to Barshong follows the Thimphu River. The campsite is at an altitude of 3710 meters. Places and attractions: Thimphu

Barshong – Dolamkencho Trekkers will gradually descent through the thick forests to Dolamkencho. Places and attractions: Thimphu

Thimphu Trek 3

Dolamkencho – Dodena The final leg of the trek, trekkers will enter into the Jigme Dorji National Park and exit through Dodena from which the trekkers will be driven to the hotel. Places and attractions: Thimphu

Hotel Lhayul 3

Thimphu Sightseeing After a rejuvenating and restful night at the hotel, trekkers will do cultural sightseeing in Thimphu which includes, a visit to the largest Buddha Statue in the world, Thimphu Dzong (Fortress) which houses the Office of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. Other attractions include the Takin Preserve, Folk Heritage Museum and National Institutes of Arts and Crafts. End of Trip After breakfast at the hotel, travelers will be dropped off to Paro International airport for their onward flight.
