About Kistanje
Kistanje municipality in Sibenik-Knin County, Croatia. Kistanje is placed inside the microregion of Bukovica, in Zagora. Kistanje is 28 kilometres from county seat Sibenik, 20 kilometres from Knin and 18 kilometres from Skradin. The Adriatic Sea is 25 kilometres to the south-west. Kistanje became first cited as Latin: Kyztane in 1408. It originated near the stays of a Roman camp Burnum and medieval church. During the Middle Ages it was a part of Luka parish and it belonged to Subic noble circle of relatives. In 1537 an Orthodox church devoted to St. Nicholas was built. Kistanje was a change middle of this a part of Bukovica.
After the Kuridza insurrection in 1704, the village turned into renamed to Kvartir; inside the 19th century it turned into again referred to as Kistanje. In 1888, the second Orthodox church, devoted to Sts Cyril and Methodius turned into built. In 1894 the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Health turned into built.
