Blato is a metropolis on the island of Korcula in Croatia. It is a municipal centre and can be reached by the primary island road from town of Korcula. The street runs thru the forests inside the center of the island of Korcula. Blato were given its name from a neighbouring discipline which flooded on regular foundation, till 1911.
The Blato field become from time to time tired. This created a lake that dried up during summer season. The construction of canals and tunnels channelled drainage water into the ocean at the north coast. It created situations for successful exploitation of extra fertile land in this place. The town itself is one of the oldest settlements on Korcula and is located in the center of the western a part of a subject. The location of Blato is assumed to had been settled throughout Roman instances. There is a church, Our Lady of the Field, located at the Blato Field that has Roman flooring that location its beginnings within the 4th century. Archaeological stays of Roman Junianum were found.
