Quzhou

Quzhou is a prefecture level city in western Zhejiang area, People's Republic of China. Sitting on the upper course of the Qiantang River, it fringes Hangzhou toward the north, Jinhua toward the east, Lishui toward the southeast, and the areas of Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui toward the south, southwest and northwest respectively. Chinese Actress and Singer Zhou Xun is conceived in Quzhou. During the Southern Song administration the relative of Confucius at Qufu, the Duke Yansheng Kong Duanyou fled south with the Song Emperor to Quzhou, while the recently settled Jin tradition in the north selected Kong Duanyou's sibling Kong Duancao who stayed in Qufu as Duke Yansheng.

From that time up until the Yuan tradition, there were two Duke Yanshengs, once in the north in Qufu and the other in the south at Quzhou. An encouragement to return to Qufu was stretched out toward the southern Duke Yansheng Kong Zhu by the Yuan administration Emperor Kublai Khan. The title was detracted from the southern branch after Kong Zhu rejected the invitation, so the northern part of the family kept the title of Duke Yansheng.
