About Saint Gabriel
Saint-Gabriel is a metropolis within the Lanaudiere place of Quebec, Canada, part of the D'Autray Regional County Municipality. It is located on the seashores of Lake Maskinonge, within the shadows of the Laurentian Mountains. The first settlers were Loyalists, Irish, and Scottish, arriving around 1825 to the seashores of Lake Maskinonge, wherein they shaped a network that become called Lake Maskinonge Settlement by 1827, and later because the Mission of Lac-Maskinonge. In 1837, the call Saint-Gabriel-du-Lac-Maskinonge came in use but became modified to Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon in 1840.
This call refers back to the angel Gabriel and the geographic township of Brandon that turned into proclaimed in 1827 and wherein it's far located. In 1851, the Parish of Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon changed into based and the publish office opened that equal year. In 1855, the Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon Parish Municipality was mounted and the town of Saint-Gabriel remained part of this parish municipality till 1892, while it separated and have become the Village Municipality of Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon. In 1967, it changed its status and name to Ville de Saint-Gabriel by using then Mayor Yvan Comeau.
