About Peace River
Peace River, initially named Peace River is a town in northwestern Alberta, Canada, arranged along the banks of the Peace River, at its conversion with the Smoky River, the Heart River and Pat's Creek. It is found 486 kilometers 302 mi northwest of Edmonton, and 198 kilometers 123 mi upper east of Grande Prairie, along Highway 2. It was known as the Village of Peace River Crossing somewhere in the range of 1914 and 1916.
