About Matagami
Matagami is a small town in Quebec, Canada. It is located north of Amos, on Matagami Lake, at the northern terminus of Route 109 and the start of the James Bay Road. The town had a populace of 1,526. Matagami was established in 1963 with the improvement of mining in the territory. Beforehand, it existed just as a little prospecting camp available just by buoy plane, yet after a feasible mineral store was found in the late 1950s a changeless settlement started to be built up.
In 1962, the Quebec Toponomy Commission endeavored to name the new network Mazenod after Charles-Joseph-Eugene de Mazenod, the organizer of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, however after an open clamor by neighborhood occupants the network was named after Matagami Lake. The two essential businesses in the city are Xstrata and Domtar. Domtar has been in Matagami since 1988 when the organization purchased out Bisson and Bisson.
Xstrata entered Matagami in 2006 when it gained Falconbridge Ltd. In 2008, Xstrata put Perseverance, a zinc-copper volcanogenic enormous sulfide metal store, into generation. Diligence has a mine life of 5.5 years. Since 1957 ten stores, including the world class Matagami Lake store have been found and dug out for a sum of "44.4 million tons with a comparable normal review."
