Magog

Magog is a city in southeastern Quebec, Canada, about 120 kilometres east of Montreal at the confluence of Lake Memphremagog after which the city was named with the Riviere aux Cerises and the Magog River. It is a noteworthy focus and modern city in the Regional County Municipality of Memphremagog. The city lies in the Eastern Townships vacationer district. In 2002 the City of Magog was converged with the Township of Magog and the Village of Omerville as a major aspect of the city revamping in Quebec.

The Abenaki were the first to possess the locale and had since quite a while ago visited the Memphremagog and its conduits. The town was established in 1776, when Loyalists emigrated from close-by Vermont. They considered it The Outlet, alluding to the stream of water purging into the Magog River from the lake. Thought about the organizer of Magog, Ralph Merry, an American Revolutionary, moved to Lower Canada in 1799 and settled in Bolton, toward the west of the lake.
