About Beausejour
Beausejour is a town in the Canadian territory of Manitoba, situated in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead. It is 46 kilometers upper east of Winnipeg, only west of the Canadian Shield and Whiteshell Provincial Park. The French name Beausejour beau + sejour signifies "delightful remain". In 1906, the "Manitoba Glass Works" was established, in a town currently known as Beausejour, by Joseph Keilback and his accomplices. Managed by an adjacent store of brilliant sand, it was the main glass compartment production line in Western Canada.
Glassblowers from Poland and the United States, bolstered by nearby work, utilized silica sands to create bottles for distilleries and soda organizations in Winnipeg. In 1909 it was assumed control by a Winnipeg specialist, who extended generation to incorporate jugs, drug containers, and ink bottles. At its pinnacle, the Manitoba Glass Works utilized 100 specialists, but since of its failure to contend with Eastern Canadian makers, was bought in 1913 by a Montreal organization and moved to Redcliff, Alberta. The production line site remains, and was assigned as a Provincial Heritage Site number 41 on 27 September 1989. In 1912, the Town of Beausejour was joined.
