About Albanel
Albanel is a region in the Canadian area of Quebec, situated inside the provincial region of Maria-Chapdelaine. The district had a populace of 2,293 as of the Canada 2011 Census. The geographic township of Albanel was announced in 1883, named after Jesuit teacher and adventurer Charles Albanel ca. 1616-1696. It had brilliant land for cultivating, among the best in the Lac Saint-Jean area at the time. Around 1891, a mission was built up in the township, served by ministers from Saint-Methode and Normandin.
In 1892, the Albanel post office opened. In 1899, the township was consolidated as the Township Municipality of Albanel. The nearness of sufficient water driven power, specifically the Chute aux Francais on the Mistassini River, and a few dairies had added to unassuming, however noteworthy, financial development of the town of Albanel. In 1930, it isolated from the township and framed the Village Municipality of Albanel. In April 1990, the township and town districts of Albanel were consolidated again to shape the Municipality of Albanel.
