About Hulshout
Hulshout is a place and municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp . The municipality has over 10,000 inhabitants and is part of the electoral canton and the judicial canton of Westerlo. The name 'Messenvichters' was given to the residents of Hulshout because they quickly pulled the knife in conflicts and fought it instead of fists. The municipality of Hulshout is located in the Herselt-Hulshout-Westerlo federation, which in turn forms part of the Zuiderkempen dean and the Diocese of Antwerp. The Parish Church of St.
Matthew, a Neo-Gothic cross basilica with the parsonage and a parsonage garden. On the west side of the church is characterized by an iron cross with evangelistic signs. This cross originally stood in the cemetery itself. In addition to Hulshout, the municipality itself also consists of the boroughs of Houtvenne and Westmeerbeek . Hulshout is north of the Grote Nete, Houtvenne and Westmeerbeek are south.
