About Borsbeek
Borsbeek is a municipality in the province of Antwerp . The municipality has more than 10,000 inhabitants. Borsbeek belongs to the constituency of Kontich and the judicial district of Schilde . In 1264 Borsbeek was separated from Deurne, where it belonged until then. Until 1505, Borsbeek was an unmatched glory. But in that year, Philip the Fair granted it to Jan van Halen. From 1559 to 1606, Borsbeek was inherited several times by relatives of the lord of Cantincrode. In 1610, François d'Orselay de Granvelle, the last owner of the Cantincrode castle, sold the delights of Borsbeek,
Hove and Boechout to the nobleman P. Peckius of Leuven. He was Chancellor of Brabant since 1614 and later became the confidant of Archduke Albrecht . He now became lord of Borsbeek, Hove and Boechout and placed the three municipalities under one alderman bench at Vredeberg Castle in Boechout. The plague prevailed in 1617 and 1618. From other congregations people came on a pilgrimage to beg the healing of St. Lucia.
