As a suburb at the northwest edge of Brussels, it's far separated from the rest of the agglomeration via the R0 ring avenue around the town. It is near the municipalities of Jette, Ganshoren and Sint-Agatha-Berchem, which lie to the east. The professional language is Dutch as anywhere in Flanders. Zellik is home to a minority of French-speakers.
