About Zeltweg

Zeltweg is a town in Styria, Austria. It is located within the Aichfeld basin of the Mur River in Upper Styria. Larger municipalities in the vicinity are Judenburg, Knittelfeld and Fohnsdorf. Some farms were recorded at Zeltweg inside the Duchy of Styria already for the duration of the thirteenth century. The village then became known as Celtwich, its call being recorded in 1430 for the first time. During the fifteenth century, there were big problems as a consequence of famines, failed harvests and epidemics, From 1569 onwards, the Habsburg archduke Charles II of Austria initiated the rafting of wood down the Mur, which won vast importance for Zeltweg's records.

During the subsequent decades, Zeltweg grew and was a target of migration. During the 18th century, the populace shrank considerably because of the growth of roads. In 1848, Count Hugo Henckel von Donnersmarck, who came from Upper Silesia, determined to relocate his own family's smeltery from Carinthian Frantschach-Sankt Gertraud to the web site. This business revolution brought a increase for Zeltweg. A railway station turned into constructed in 1868.
