Wolfgangsee

Lake Wolfgang also known as Wolfgangsee is a lake in Austria that lies in most cases within the state of Salzburg and is one of the high-quality recognised lakes within the Salzkammergut motel location. The municipalities on its shore are Strobl, St. Gilgen with the villages of Abersee and Ried in addition to the marketplace town of St. Wolfgang within the kingdom of Upper Austria. The town and the lake are named after Saint Wolfgang of Regensburg, who, in line with legend, built the primary church right here in the overdue 10th century.

Lake Wolfgang stretches about 10.5 kilometres from the northwest to the southeast. It is split into components with the aid of a peninsula, known as die Enge, situated roughly in the middle of its southern shore opposite St. Wolfgang, where the breadth is not any more than 200 metres. The western part of the lake at St. Gilgen is referred to as the Abersee. The lake has a place of approximately 12.9 to 13.1 km² and is surrounded through the Salzkammergut mountain range.
