About Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt am Worthersee is the capital of the federal nation of Carinthia in Austria. With a populace of one hundred,817, it is the sixth-largest town in the united states. The town is the bishop's seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt and home to the University of Klagenfurt. Carinthia's eminent linguists Primus Lessiak and Eberhard Kranzmayer assumed that the town's name, which literally translates as "ford of lament" or "ford of court cases", had some thing to do with the superstitious concept that fateful fairies or demons generally tend to stay around treacherous waters or swamps.
In Old Slovene, cviljovec is a place haunted via one of these wailing girl ghost or cvilya. Thus they assumed that Klagenfurt's call became a translation made by way of the German settlers of the original Slovene name of the neighbouring wetland. However, the earliest Slovene mention of Klagenfurt within the form of "v Zelouzi" courting from 1615 is four hundred years extra recent and hence may be a translation from German. The modern day interpretation, however, is that the Old Slovene cviljovec itself goes back to an Italic l'aquiliu meaning an area at or in the water, which might make the wailing-hag principle obsolete.
