Murrumbeena is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 13 km south-east of Melbourne's central business region. Its neighborhood government domain is the City of Glen Eira. At the 2016 Census, Murrumbeena had a masses of 9,926. The name "Murrumbeena" gets from the Aboriginal word "mirambeena". It might have signified "place that is known for frogs", "greenery developing on rotted wood" or it might be a subsidiary from the name of an Aboriginal senior. The proof for any of these derivations is uncertain. The name was formally received when the railroad station opened in 1879.
