About Thang Long Imperial Citadel
The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long or Dongjing is placed inside the centre of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is also known as Hanoi Citadel. The royal enclosure was first constructed for the duration of the Ly dynasty and eventually increased by way of the Tran, Le and finally the Nguyen dynasty. It remained the seat of the Vietnamese courtroom till 1810, while the Nguyen dynasty selected to move the capital to Hue. The ruins kind of coincide with the Hanoi Citadel these days.
The royal palaces and most of the structures in Thang Long had been in varying states of disrepair by the past due nineteenth century with the upheaval of the French conquest of Hanoi. By the 20 th century a number of the remaining systems have been torn down. Only inside the 21st century are the wreck foundations of Thang Long Imperial City systematically excavated. In mid-1945 the Citadel become used by the Imperial Japanese Army to imprison over 4000 French colonial soldiers captured for the duration of the Japanese coup d'etat in French Indochina in March 1945.
