About Wooster Square Historical District
Wooster Square is an area in the city of New Haven, Connecticut toward the east of downtown. The name alludes to a recreation center square named for the American Revolutionary War saint, David Wooster situated between Greene Street, Wooster Place, Chapel Street and Academy Street in the focal point of the area.
The world's, best-known – pizza particularly, apizza restaurants, including Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana and Sally's Apizza. The square and a significant part of the area are incorporated into the Wooster Square Historic District, which was recorded on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Wooster Square is known as a bastion of Italian American culture and food, and is home to some of New Haven's.
