Woodward
About Woodward
Woodward is a city in and the region seat of Woodward County, Oklahoma, United States. It is the biggest city in a nine-region area. The populace was 12,051 at the 2010 evaluation. The region was verifiably possessed by the Kiowa, Comanche, Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes. European-American pioneers built up the town in 1887 after development of the railroad to that point for delivery cows to business sectors. The town was on the Great Western Cattle Trail. In the nineteenth century, it was a standout amongst the most essential terminals in the Oklahoma Territory for delivery steers toward the East. As an essential steers town, it had the unpleasant boondocks risquéness of the time.
The United States opened up a great part of the region to European-American settlement by the Land Run of 1893 and vagrants hurried into the region. Bubbling Springs State Park, named for its artesian springs that appear to bubble, has been set up east of the city. After statehood, in 1911 Woodward was built up as a court town for the US District Court of western Oklahoma. Yearly government dockets were held every year in November through 1948, and sporadically by require after that.
