The Walter Anderson Museum of Art WAMA is situated in memorable Ocean Springs, Mississippi. WAMA is committed to the festival of crafted by Walter Inglis Anderson 1903– 1965, American ace, whose delineations of the plants, creatures, and individuals of the Gulf Coast have set him among the front line of American painters of the Twentieth Century; and to his siblings, Peter Anderson 1901– 1984, ace potter and originator of Shearwater Pottery; and James McConnell Anderson 1907– 1998, noted painter and ceramist.
The Walter Anderson Museum of Art started as a thought by a gathering of individuals in Ocean Springs and Jackson, Mississippi to protect the workmanship and culture of Walter Inglis Anderson. The Friends of Walter Anderson was sanctioned in 1974, and through their endeavors supports and give cash were raised to fabricate the exhibition hall on Washington Avenue in Ocean Springs ashore rented from Jackson County.
