About Wallace
Wallace is a small historic city in the Panhandle area of the U.S. province of Idaho and the area seat of Shoshone County in the Silver Valley mining locale. Established in 1884, Wallace sits close by the South Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River and Interstate 90, roughly 2,728 feet 831 m above ocean level. The town's populace was 784 at the 2010 enumeration.
Wallace is the central town of the Coeur d'Alene silver-mining locale, which created more silver than some other mining area in the United States. Burke-Canyon Road goes through notable mining groups – a large number of them now forsook – north and eastbound toward the Montana state line. East of Wallace, the Route of the Hiawatha rails-to-trails and the Lookout Pass ski region are popular with locals and travelers.
