The populace of the city itself was 31,731 at the 2010 enumeration. The number of inhabitants in Walla and its two rural areas, the town of College Place and unincorporated "East Walla," is around 45,000. Walla is in the southeastern district of Washington, roughly four hours away via auto from Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, and just six miles north of the Oregon border.
Recorded history in this state starts with the foundation of Fort Nez Perce in 1818 by the North West Company to exchange with the Walla individuals and other nearby Native American gatherings. At the time, the expression "Nez Perce" was utilized more comprehensively than today, and incorporated the Walla in its degree in English usage. Fort Nez Perce had its name move to Fort Walla. It was found altogether west of the present city.
