About Versailles State Park
Versailles State Park is an Indiana state park, close to the town of Versailles, Indiana, USA. The land was given by the National Park Service for use as a state stop to Indiana's Department of Conservation in 1943. In the mid twentieth century, the region was farmland. In the 1930s, the National Park Service gained the land and procured the Civilian Conservation Corps CCC to enhance the land into a Recreational Demonstration Area. The 230-section of land 0.93 km2 Versailles Lake was shaped in 1954 when a dam was worked crosswise over Laughery Creek. Swimming pool and waterplay zone. Climbing, angling, summer nature/history programs, mountain bicycle trails, kayak rentals. Reservable outdoors/aggregate camp.
