Upper Mesa Falls
About Upper Mesa Falls
Upper Mesa Falls is a waterfall on the Henrys Fork Upstream from Lower Mesa Falls, it is about 16 miles 26 km far from Ashton, Idaho. Plateau Falls Tuff, which is the stone over which Upper Mesa falls, was framed 1.3 million years prior. A cycle of rhyolitic volcanism from the Henrys Fork caldera saved a thick layer of shake and powder over the zone. This layer packed and solidified after some time. In the vicinity of 200,000 and 600,000 years back, the stream disintegrated a wide gorge which was in this manner halfway loaded with basalt magma streams. The Henrys Fork of the Snake River at that point cut the channel through the basalt; which is the internal ravine seen today.
