About Town Spring Park
Town Spring Park re-establishes one of the first springs that helped Clinton turn into a coveted resting place for fatigued explorers in the 1800's and given water to early occupants of the city. Two streets kept running close to the area of this spring, the Natchez Trace and the Jackson/Vicksburg Road making the area an essential water spot for voyagers. The wealth of crisp water made Clinton a prevalent resting place for voyagers on the Natchez Trace. For quite a long time, the spring situated at this site provided water to Native Americans and overland voyagers from the North and East, and in addition the flatboatmen coming back from New Orleans to their boondocks homes.
At one time two lodgings and a few bars sat close to the site in the mid 1800's. Town Spring currently fills in as an interesting indication of the early long periods of Clinton's development and significance to exchange focal Mississippi. Today, occupants can escape somewhere down in the core of Olde Towne Clinton for a calm escape from the rushing about of their bustling lives for an indication of calmer circumstances past.
