Thomas is a little city and previous coal town in Tucker County, West Virginia, United States. The populace was 586 at the 2010 evaluation. Thomas was platted in 1884. Thomas was named for Thomas Beall Davis 1828-1911, sibling of Senator Henry Gassaway Davis. The Davis siblings, in 1883, opened a mine close Thomas and had coal prepared to dispatch when their railroad arrived a year later. By 1892, Davis Coal and Coke was among the biggest and best known coal organizations on the planet and utilized 1,600 individuals.
