About The House of the Seven Gables
The House of the Seven Gables, made popular by American creator Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel The House of the Seven Gables is a 1668 pilgrim chateau in Salem, Massachusetts, named for its peaks. The house is currently a non-benefit historical center, with an affirmation expense charged for visits, and in addition a dynamic settlement house with programs for kids. It was worked for Captain John Turner and remained with the family for three generations. A couple of years after the fact, a kitchen shelter and another north kitchen ell to the back of the house were included. By 1676, Turner had included an open south augmentation with its own fireplace, containing a parlor on the ground floor, with an extensive bed load above it. Roofs in this new wing are higher than the low roofs in more seasoned parts of the house. The new wing highlighted twofold casement windows and a shade with cut pendants; it was topped with a three-gabled garret.
