Worked in 1812 as a home for New York State Senator John Suydam, the Fred J. Johnston Museum commends the life and times of the representative and stands as a superb design case of a home from the great Federal time frame. Spared from destruction from Fred Johnston in 1938, the building was reestablished to its previous magnificence and made into an exhibition hall that now includes a few period rooms with furniture accumulations from the eighteenth and mid nineteenth hundreds of years. Situated at the intersection of Wall and Main Streets, the historical center highlights an accumulation that additionally exhibits noteworthy accumulations of American work of art, compositions, fine china, and improving workmanship, and guided visits are offered on the ends of the week amongst May and October.
