The Elms
About The Elms
The Elms was the summer residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Julius Berwind of Philadelphia and New York. Philadelphia coal head honcho Edward J. Berwind charged his house to be founded on the mid-eighteenth century Château d'Asnière, close Paris. The Elms was Finished in 1901, the Berwinds' late spring home was decorated with Venetian artworks and outfitted in French collectibles from the time of the estate.
These gardens were recently restored. It feels exceptionally fascinating to visit here. They include terraces displaying marble and bronze sculpture, a park of fine specimen trees and a lavish lower garden featuring marble pavilions, fountains, a sunken garden and carriage house and garage.
