About The Coyote Mountains
The Coyote Mountains are a little mountain go in San Diego and Imperial Counties in southern California. The Coyotes shape a tight ESE drifting 2 mi wide range with a length of around 12 mi. The southeast end turns and structures a north inclining "snare". The most astounding point is Carrizo Mountain on the upper east end with a height of 2,408 feet my Peak at the northwest end of the range has a rise of 1,850 ft.
Coyote Wash along I-8 along the southeast edge of the range is 100 to 300 feet in height. Mortar City lies in the Yuha Desert around 5.5 mi east of the east end of the range.
Toward the southeast lie the Jacumba Mountains and the Volcanic Hills. Toward the north and upper east lie the Carrizo Badlands, the Carrizo Valley and the Fish Creek Mountains. The west end of the range is inside the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and the east end is inside the Carrizo Naval Gunnery Range. The global outskirt lies around 11 mi south of the southeast edge of the range.
