About The Battery

For over 200 years, The Battery has been an important piece of New York City's history. In 1855, Castle Garden, arranged inside the Park, turned into the world's first migrant station. Decades before Ellis Island was manufactured or the Statue of Liberty looked down at approaching pontoons, a huge number of newcomers touched base at The Battery from Europe and somewhere else.

Despite the fact that its part has changed, individuals from around the globe still visit The Battery for a perspective of the city's past. Ships dock at its shore to get guests to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and throughout the entire summer, shows play on its grounds.

Its excellent waterfront and blossom gardens make The Battery a dazzling spot to meander. For those who'd like a more drawn out to walk, the recreation center's area at the southern tip of Manhattan makes it a great beginning stage for strolling visits through the city.
