The Algodones Dunes
About The Algodones Dunes
The Algodones Dunes is a vast erg sand ridge field situated in the southeastern segment of the U.S. territory of California, close to the outskirt with Arizona and the Mexican province of Baja California. The field is around 45 miles in length by 6 miles wide and reaches out along a northwest-southeast line that relates to the predominant northerly and westerly breeze headings.
The name "Algodones Dunes" alludes to the whole geographic component, while the authoritative assignment for that bit overseen by the Bureau of Land Management is the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. The Algodones Dunes are part of a wide range of segments. These segments incorporate Glamis, Gordon's Well, Buttercup, Midway, and Patton's Valley.
