Terrace Hill, otherwise called Hubbell Mansion, Benjamin F. Allen House, and Iowa Governor's Mansion, is the official living arrangement of the Governor of Iowa, United States. Situated at 2300 Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa, it is a case of Second Empire design. The home measures 18,000 square feet 1,600 m². It sits on a slope sitting above downtown Des Moines, and has a 90-foot 27 m tower that offers a directing perspective of the city. The house was assigned a National Historic Landmark in 2003. Terrace Hill was worked by Benjamin Franklin Allen, the initial tycoon in Iowa, as a home for his family.
The draftsman for this venture was William Boyington, a prominent Chicago engineer. Development started in 1866, and was done in 1869.
