Spoonbridge and Cherry
About Spoonbridge and Cherry
This giant spoon and cherry was raised in 1985 by craftsman Claes Oldenburg and his significant other, Coosje van Bruggen and is the centerpiece of the Walker Art Center's Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the biggest urban model stop on the planet. Oldenburg was a craftsman who was known for making larger than usual renditions of ordinary articles and sustenance items. The spoon was Oldenburg's thought, who had a propensity for doodling spoons as far back as 1962 when he was propelled by a spoon laying on a bit of phony chocolate. The cherry in the piece was van Bruggen's thought, needing to utilize it as a remark on the garden's generally staid layout. The work of art was tidied up and still stays as a to some degree silly, certainly exceptional symbol of the Minnesota city.
