Soulard

It is named for Antoine Soulard, who initially started to build up the land. Soulard was a surveyor for the Spanish government and an exile from the French Revolution in the 1790s. One of the most established networks in the city, Soulard is today a generally private neighborhood whose numerous organizations incorporate eateries, bars, and the North American home office of Anheuser-Busch, which houses the St. Louis Brewery.

Half of the area north of Lynch Street is made generally out of column homes and little lofts with the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and home office possessing a large portion of the land south of Lynch.
