Smith Point County Park is a beachfront stop confronting the Atlantic Ocean on the east end of Fire Island, along the focal south shore of Long Island, close Shirley, New York, US. It is the biggest stop possessed by Suffolk County.The promontory was named for William "Tangier" Smith, who in the seventeenth century claimed 50 miles 80 km of sea front property in the Manor of St. George. The recreation center does not claim the Smith Point peninsula.Smith Point Park, situated on the hindrance island of Fire Island, is a sanctuary for sportsmen, surfers and shoreline darlings. An amazingly prevalent office, the recreation center has white sands, moving Atlantic surf and a connecting outdoors office that pull in both Suffolk County inhabitants and sightseers every summer.Reservations are required for every one of the locales in the campground.
