Singleton Park
About Singleton Park
Singleton Park is largest park of Swansea. It is one of the green lungs of the city. It spreads across some 250 acres 101 hectares and incorporates a boating lake, botanical garden and university campus. The history of Singleton Park dates back to 1847, when industrialist John Henry Vivian purchased parkland to create a family estate. Today, visitors come to escape the city bustle, get in touch with nature and attend summer events.
Join the locals that flock to the park to bike, jog and walk along the paths, which wind around undulating green lawns. Sit on a bench, admire the tall trees and watch for mischievous squirrels. Visit the quaint Swiss-style cottage, designed by the English architect P.F. Robinson. In the park’s northern corner you’ll find the Swansea Botanical Gardens. Discover over 200 species of plants displayed in glasshouses, ornamental gardens and rockeries. Come in spring to marvel at the multicolored rhododendrons and in summer to see the herbaceous borders in full bloom.
