Sierra Northern

Sierra Northern was established in August 2003 by two Northern California short line railroads which are the Yolo Short line Railroad and the Sierra Railroad Company. Sierra Northern’s employees strive to help its customers with all their railroad transportation needs. Today it operates 75 miles of track in northern California, through the heart of a number of California's prime industrial areas, interchanging with both the Union Pacific Railroad and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, and serving a wide iety of customers. Sierra Northern handles approximately 6,000 carloads annually. Commodities include lumber, bulk gypsum, wallboard, chemicals, grain and grain products particle board, tomato paste, bulk plastics, canned goods, bulk limestone, frozen fruits/vegetables, wood chips, steel, ethanol, and propane.
