At a minute when libraries are seen to be under danger from a contracting open domain on one side and digitization on the other, the Seattle Central Library makes a city space for the course of information in all media, and a creative sorting out framework for a consistently developing physical accumulation – the Books Spiral. The library's different projects are naturally masterminded crosswise over five stages and four streaming "in the middle of" planes, which together manage the building's particular faceted shape, offering the city a moving building that is strong in the two its style and its rationale. OMA's desire is to reclassify the library as a foundation never again solely devoted to the book, but instead as a data store where every single intense type of media – new and old – are exhibited similarly and intelligibly.
