About San Juan National Forest
The San Juan National Forest S.J.N.F. was made by declaration in 1905 by Theodore Roosevelt; in 2012 President Obama broadcasted and assigned a piece of the timberland as Chimney Rock National Monument. The 1.8-million-section of land arrive, titled as a U.S. National Forest, can be found in the southwestern corner of Colorado.
The timberland is circumscribed by the Uncompahgre National Forest and the Rio Grande National ForestR.G.N.F. and covers a segment of the San Juan Mountains. Guests of any age will appreciate finding the backwoods, particularly the three assigned wild territories that are a piece of the National Wilderness Preservation System: The South San Juan Wilderness, the Weminuche Wilderness, and the Lizard Head Wilderness.
