Ruby
About Ruby
Found only north of the Mexican fringe, south-southeast of Tucson, the disconnected settlement of Ruby is southern Arizona's best-safeguarded apparition town. In the 1870s, miners found gold and copper at adjacent Montana Peak, and the surge was on. Inside an age, Ruby was thriving.By the 1930s, when the mine was Arizona's most gainful by a few measures, in excess of 1,000 souls lived around the local area. At that point the mine went stomach up. Not as much as after 10 years, Ruby was surrendered, put something aside for a couple of stiff-necked holdouts. Today, the town has around two dozen structures in great condition, in addition to a huge number of mine hardware and some old ancient rarities. It's open Thursday through Sunday at $12 per head. Call ahead amid the rainstorm season, when the mountain street paving the way to town swings to closed ooze.
