Richard Jackson House
About Richard Jackson House
The Richard Jackson House is a memorable house at 76 Northwest Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Worked in 1664 by Richard Jackson, it is the most established wood-outline house in New Hampshire. It was assigned a National Historic Landmark in 1968. It is currently a memorable house exhibition hall claimed by Historic New England, and is open two Saturdays a month amongst June and October. Richard Jackson was a carpenter, agriculturist, and sailor, and constructed the most established segment of this house on his family's 25-section of land 10 ha plot, situated on a delta off the Piscataqua River, north of Portsmouth's focal business area.
Jackson's home looks like English post-medieval models, yet is outstandingly American in its lavish utilization of wood. The house as first assembled comprised of a two-story structure with two rooms on each floor, flanking an enormous focal stack. Not long a while later, a leanto segment was added to the back north side of the house, which slants almost to the ground. Additionally single-story options were made to the peak finishes of the house, most likely.
